Mount Kinabalu
|
|
I started hiking Mount Kinabalu on 18-May-2007. I chose to start hiking from Mesilau Trail which is around 2km further compared to Timpohon Trail. Mesilau Trail has a better view compared to Timpohon Trail. The two trail joints nearby Layang-Layang and took another 2km to reach Laban Rata Rest house. From Laban Rata, there will be another 2.5km to Low’s Peak. I reached the summit (Low’s Peak) on 19-May-2007 around 5:45am…. Just before sunrise. However, I went down through Timpohon Trail for a different experience… plus, I’m too tired…
...along Mesilau Trail...
During our lunch break at Pondok Lompoyou, this squirrel steals our leftovers…
at km 5.5….

Finally at the top after 7 years!!! It was at 4092.5m above sea level. However, I heard from a friend that it should be higher than that due to some sort of nature activity. I did manage to capture some details from a GPS (as picture below). It shows that it is 4102m... anyone has an explanation?!
Some action from the top...

South Peak. We can view South Peak from our RM1 note!!! Check it out….
On the way back from Kinabalu Park to Kota Kinabalu, I came across these kids. They were so excited to see me with a camera and pose…
Kundasang
We stop by at Kundasang town for a lunch on our way back to Kota Kinabalu and saw this "Sepak Takraw" tournment held at the square.
Somewhere in Kota Kinabalu
Kota Kinabalu Sunset
Love the colours of the sky…
During the trip, I managed to visit a friend in Tambunan (approx 90km from Kota Kinabalu). This shot was taken in Tambunan. No traffic jams!! Such a peaceful place…
I got my flight back to KL "open" on MAS. I was not aware that it’s a start of a school holidays that weekend. I have to wait in front of this “stand-by" counter from 9:30am Friday morning till 10:30am Saturday morning.
Finally managed to get a seat back to KL from KK on 11am flight Saturday morning, 25hrs later…. What an experience….
Finally, for the second time I reached the summit of Mount Kinabalu (Low’s Peak) on the 19-May-2007. Been there, done that…

Bangkok
|
|
I was in Bangkok with Chad, Edek & Hsing Yeong from the 3-May till 6-May-07 immediately after Pulau Dayang trip. It was a hectic week but I did enjoy my holidays… a well spent holidays and leave I would say….
Owh, if any of u guys are heading to Bangkok, there are few halal places that we managed to explore coz it’s quite hard to find one… there is one at Soi 22 (Usman) nearby Grand Marquery Hotel or sumthing….. and at Nana Soi 3 (nearby Nana BTS Skytrain Station) where there are quite a number of muslim restaurants, basically arab foods…
The backpackers place we stayed for 500THB per nite…located at Soi Kasemsan 1, nearby National Stadium BTS Skytrain Station
Jim Thompson House
Wat Arun
Grand Palace
playing with shutter speed at National Stadium BTS Skytrain Station
My personal favourite. Managed to capture this man with his birds outside Grand Palace…

Pulau Dayang
|
|
Went to Pulau Dayang, off Tioman from the 29-Apr-07 till 2-May-07 for a dive trip with 24 others..
How to get to Pulau Dayang:
KL – Mersing Jetty: 5-1/2 hrs drive
Mersing Jetty – Pulau Dayang: 4 hrs boat ride
However, Pulau Dayang is not a public island where we can go like others. We have to make reservations in advance as you need to charter a boat to go there. There is no public boat to Dayang….
